This bubbly, crispy potato gratin with Parmesan & Gruyere is the perfect comfort dish. A blend of creamy potatoes and savory cheeses, it’s quick, easy, and delicious.

- 2 pounds russet potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1 cup grated Gruyere cheese
- 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 tablespoons butter, for greasing the baking dish
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 1 tablespoon fresh thyme (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Prep a baking dish by coating it with butter.
- Layer half of your sliced potatoes in the bottom of the dish.
- Mix the heavy cream, milk, minced garlic, salt, pepper, and half of each cheese in a mixing bowl.
- Assemble by pouring half of the creamy mixture over the potatoes. Repeat the layering process.
- Top with the remaining cheeses.
- Bake for about 50-60 minutes until the top is golden brown and bubbly.
- Rest for 10 minutes before serving.
Notes
For even cooking, use a mandoline to slice the potatoes thinly. This dish can be made ahead and stored in the fridge for up to a day before baking.
