Description

A delectable cake featuring layers of moist coffee-infused cake topped with creamy caramel buttercream.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup brewed coffee (cooled)
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 34 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/2 cup caramel sauce
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • A pinch of sea salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. Combine dry ingredients in a large mixing bowl.
  3. Mix wet ingredients together, then slowly pour in the cooled coffee.
  4. Bake the cakes for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  5. Cool the cakes in the pans for about 10 minutes, then onto a wire rack.
  6. Beat the softened butter until creamy and fluffy.
  7. Add powdered sugar gradually until well mixed.
  8. Sweeten with caramel sauce and adjust consistency with milk.
  9. Add a pinch of salt to balance sweetness.

Notes

If using cold eggs, let them warm up before mixing for smoother batter. Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature or refrigerate.
