Description

Chinese Pepper Steak is the perfect recipe for busy nights. Quick, easy, and delicious, this dish will become your go-to meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb flank steak, sliced thinly
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil, divided
  • 1 bell pepper, sliced into strips
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, minced
  • ¼ cup beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce (optional)
  • Cooked rice, for serving

Instructions

  1. Marinate the steak: In a medium bowl, combine your sliced steak, soy sauce, and cornstarch. Let it sit while you chop your veggies for about 15 minutes.
  2. Cook the steak: In a large skillet or wok, heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil over high heat. Add the marinated steak and cook for 2-3 minutes until browned. Remove and set aside.
  3. Sauté the veggies: In the same skillet, add the remaining oil, bell pepper, and onion. Stir-fry for about 3-5 minutes until softened but still crunchy.
  4. Spice it up: Add garlic and ginger, stirring for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
  5. Bring it all together: Return the steak to the pan, pour in beef broth and oyster sauce, toss, and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes.
  6. Serve and enjoy: Serve your Chinese Pepper Steak over cooked rice.

Notes

For a quicker meal, use frozen stir-fry vegetable mixes. You can substitute flank steak with chicken or tofu for a vegetarian version.
