Description

These spooky skull potatoes are a fun and delicious addition to any Halloween gathering, guaranteed to impress your guests.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 medium-sized potatoes
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (sharp cheddar works wonders)
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Olive oil
  • Optional: Olives or other toppings for decoration

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Wash the potatoes thoroughly, then prick them with a fork to allow steam to escape while baking.
  3. Place the pierced potatoes on a baking sheet drizzled with olive oil.
  4. Bake them in the oven for about 50-60 minutes or until they are tender enough to poke a fork into them effortlessly.
  5. Once the potatoes have cooled slightly, cut a skull shape into the top.
  6. Scoop out some of the inside to make room for the filling.
  7. In a bowl, combine the scooped-out potato flesh, shredded cheese, sour cream, butter, salt, and pepper.
  8. Mix until you have a creamy consistency.
  9. Generously fill your skull-shaped potato shells with the loaded potato mixture.
  10. Top with more cheese for a gooey delight.
  11. Return the potatoes to the oven for another 15-20 minutes until the tops are golden brown and bubbly.
  12. After baking, use olives or your favorite toppings to create spooky eyes, noses, or any other fun designs on your skull potatoes.

Notes

You can bake the potatoes the day before. Just fill them when you’re ready, pop them back in the oven, and you’ll have a quick creature feature ready to go!
