Description
A deliciously crunchy and simple recipe to replicate your favorite KFC chicken right at home.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 pieces of chicken (legs, thighs, or your choice)
- 1 cup of buttermilk
- 1 cup of all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 1 teaspoon pepper
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- Vegetable oil for frying
Instructions
- Marinate the chicken: In a large bowl, soak the chicken pieces in buttermilk for at least 1 hour.
- Prepare the coating: In another bowl, mix the flour, salt, pepper, paprika, garlic powder, and onion powder.
- Heat the oil: In a large, deep skillet, pour enough vegetable oil to cover the bottom (about 1-2 inches) and heat over medium-high heat.
- Dredge the chicken: Take the marinated chicken out of the buttermilk and coat each piece thoroughly in the flour mixture.
- Fry the chicken: Carefully place the coated chicken in the hot oil, skin side down, and fry for about 15 minutes on each side.
- Drain and serve: Once cooked, let the chicken drain on a paper towel-lined plate.
Notes
Maintain the right oil temperature for a crispy texture. Fry in batches to avoid soggy chicken. Consider adding pickle juice to the buttermilk for an extra twist.
