Description
The Dragon Roll is a visually stunning sushi dish made with shrimp tempura, avocado, and cucumber, topped with eel sauce for an unforgettable experience.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup Sushi rice
- 2 sheets Nori sheets
- 4 pieces Tempura shrimp
- 1 Cucumber, julienned
- 1 Avocado, sliced
- Eel sauce, for drizzling
- Soy sauce, for dipping
- Sesame seeds, for garnish
- 1 tablespoon Rice vinegar
- 1 tablespoon Sugar
- Salt, to taste
Instructions
- Prepare the sushi rice: Rinse the sushi rice under cold water until the water runs clear. Cook the rice according to the package instructions. Once cooked, mix in the rice vinegar, sugar, and a pinch of salt. Allow it to cool slightly.
- Lay out your nori: Place one sheet of nori, shiny side down, on a bamboo sushi mat. Wet your hands to prevent sticking and grab a handful of sushi rice (about ¾ cup). Spread it evenly over the nori, leaving about an inch at the top.
- Assemble the filling: Horizontally layer the tempura shrimp, julienned cucumber, and avocado slices across the center of the rice-covered nori.
- Roll it up: Using the bamboo mat, start rolling away from you, applying gentle pressure while rolling until you reach the top edge. Wet the exposed edge of the nori with a bit of water to seal it.
- Slice it up: With a sharp, wet knife, slice the roll into bite-sized pieces. Be gentle to keep everything intact!
- Add the finishing touches: Arrange the pieces on a plate, drizzle with eel sauce, and sprinkle sesame seeds on top.
