  • 8 ounces of shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 8 ounces of spaghetti or your preferred pasta
  • 4 tablespoons of unsalted butter
  • 4 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon of red pepper flakes (optional)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
  • Grated Parmesan cheese (optional)

Instructions

  1. Cook the Pasta: Start by boiling a large pot of salted water. Once it’s roaring, add the pasta and cook according to the package instructions until al dente. Remember to save a cup of reserved pasta water.
  2. Sauté the Shrimp: In a separate pan, melt 2 tablespoons of butter over medium heat. Add the shrimp, sprinkle with salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes. Cook until the shrimp turn pink and opaque, about 2-3 minutes on each side. Remove and set aside.
  3. Create the Sauce: In the same pan, add the remaining 2 tablespoons of butter and the minced garlic. Sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant, being careful not to burn the garlic.
  4. Combine Everything: Once the garlic is aromatic, add the cooked pasta and the sautéed shrimp back into the pan. Toss everything together, adding reserved pasta water if the sauce looks too dry.
  5. Serve It Up: Remove from heat, and finish with a sprinkle of fresh parsley and grated Parmesan cheese if desired. Serve immediately.

Notes

If short on time, consider using frozen shrimp as they cook just as nicely. This dish pairs beautifully with a side salad or garlic bread.
