Description
A decadent German Chocolate Poke Cake that is rich, chocolatey, and easy to make, perfect for any occasion.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 box chocolate cake mix (plus ingredients called for on the box)
- 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1 ¾ cups shredded sweetened coconut
- 1 cup chopped pecans
- 1 container (16 oz) whipped topping or cool whip
Instructions
- Preheat your oven according to the instructions on the cake mix box. Prepare a 9×13-inch baking pan by greasing it lightly. Mix the cake batter as per the box directions and pour it into the prepared pan. Bake until a toothpick comes out clean, usually around 25-30 minutes. Once baked, cool it on a wire rack.
- Poke holes all over the warm cake using a fork or the handle of a wooden spoon after it has cooled for about 10-15 minutes.
- Pour the sweetened condensed milk evenly over the cake, ensuring it fills the holes. Let it sit until it has soaked in completely.
- Sprinkle the chocolate chips over the top while the cake is still warm, allowing them to melt.
- In a bowl, mix the shredded coconut and chopped pecans. Spread this mixture evenly over the cake.
- Spread the whipped topping over the cake and cover with plastic wrap or foil. Chill in the fridge for at least a few hours or overnight.
Notes
The longer it chills, the better it tastes! You can substitute pecans for almonds or walnuts if you prefer.
