Instructions

  2. Mix dry ingredients: whisk together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Incorporate wet ingredients: add the buttermilk, vegetable oil, egg, and vanilla extract. Mix until just combined.
  4. Add boiling water carefully and stir until the batter is smooth.
