Description

Ingredients

  • 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups milk
  • 3 cups shredded cheese (cheddar or your favorites)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional add-ins: crispy bacon, broccoli, or buffalo chicken

Instructions

  1. Cook the macaroni in a large pot of salted boiling water according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  2. Make the cheese sauce by melting the butter in a large saucepan over medium heat. Stir in the flour and cook for about 1 minute until bubbly.
  3. Whisk in the milk gradually, stirring constantly until the mixture thickens (about 5-7 minutes).
  4. Add the shredded cheese to the sauce, stirring until melted.
  5. Combine the cooked macaroni with the cheese sauce, stirring until coated. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  6. Optional: mix in your favorite add-ins now.
  7. Serve immediately or transfer to a baking dish, sprinkle with more cheese, and bake at 350°F for 15-20 minutes for a crispy top!
