- 1¾ cups sugar
- ¾ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1½ teaspoons baking powder
- 1½ teaspoons baking soda

- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup whole milk
- ½ cup vegetable oil
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 cup boiling water
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 2 cups creamy peanut butter
- 4 cups powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2–3 tablespoons heavy cream (to thin out if needed)
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- ½ cup heavy cream
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
- Combine the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a large bowl.
- Add the eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla extract. Mix until well combined.
- Stir in the boiling water gradually. The batter will be thin.
- Pour the batter evenly into the prepared pans and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Cool the cakes in the pans for 10 minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.
- Beat the softened butter and creamy peanut butter together until smooth.
- Add powdered sugar and vanilla extract gradually. Mix until fluffy; adjust consistency with heavy cream if needed.
- Spread a generous amount of frosting on the first layer of the cooled cake.
- Top with the second cake layer and frost the entire cake.
- Heat heavy cream in a small saucepan until it simmers.
- Add chocolate chips, stir until melted and smooth.
- Pour the ganache over the frosted cake, allowing it to drip down the sides.
Notes
For a fun twist, add chopped Reese’s Cups between the layers for extra flavor.
