Description
A warm, hearty chili inspired by Wendy’s, perfect for busy days.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 medium onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can (15 oz) kidney beans, drained and rinsed
- 1 can (15 oz) black beans, drained and rinsed
- 1 can (28 oz) crushed tomatoes
- 2 tablespoons tomato paste
- 2 tablespoons chili powder
- 1 teaspoon cumin
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 cup beef broth
Instructions
- Brown the beef: Start by cooking the ground beef in a large pot over medium heat until browned, breaking it apart as it cooks for about 5-7 minutes.
- Sauté the aromatics: Add in the diced onion and minced garlic, cooking until the onion is translucent to enhance the aroma.
- Combine ingredients: Stir in the kidney beans, black beans, crushed tomatoes, and tomato paste, mixing well to combine the flavors.
- Spice it up: Sprinkle in the chili powder, cumin, and paprika, adding salt and pepper to taste for depth of flavor.
- Simmer away: Pour in the beef broth, bring to a gentle boil, then reduce heat to low and simmer for at least 20-30 minutes.
- Serve and enjoy: Ladle the chili into bowls and top with garnishes like shredded cheese, sour cream, or chopped green onions.
Notes
Feel free to customize with bell peppers or corn. The flavors deepen if left to sit for longer.
