Preparation
- Lightly season the chicken breasts with a pinch of salt and pepper, if desired. Optionally, sear the chicken in a hot pan for a few minutes on each side.
Cooking
- Place the chicken breasts in the bottom of the slow cooker.
- Pour the marinara sauce over the chicken, making sure each piece is well coated.
- Cover the slow cooker. Set on low for 6-8 hours or high for 3-4 hours.
Serving
- Once cooked, shred the chicken in the slow cooker using two forks.
- Stir everything together to combine the flavors and serve.
Notes
Add sliced bell peppers or spinach for extra nutrition. Stir in cream cheese or Parmesan for a creamy variation. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days in the fridge.
