Ingredients

Wet Ingredients
  • 1.5 cups applesauce (unsweetened for a healthier option)
  • 1 cup sugar (can mix with brown sugar for extra flavor)
  • 1/3 cup vegetable oil (or substitute with applesauce) For a healthier twist
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional, but highly recommended)
Dry Ingredients
  • 1.5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon For warmth
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
Optional Add-ins
  • 1/2 cup nuts or raisins Optional, adds delightful texture

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine the applesauce, sugar, vegetable oil, and eggs. Whisk until smooth.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt. Gradually fold this mixture into your wet ingredients until just combined. If desired, add nuts or raisins.
  4. Grease a 9x5-inch loaf pan and pour the batter in, smoothing the top.
Baking
  1. Bake for about 50 to 60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  2. Let the bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.
Serving
  1. Slice, serve, and enjoy!

Notes

Don’t overmix to prevent a dense loaf. Experiment with different add-ins like cranberries or chocolate chips. This bread keeps well in an airtight container for several days and freezes beautifully.
