Ingredients

Bread Ingredients
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour You may use other types of flour, but all-purpose is standard.
  • 1.5 teaspoons salt Essential for flavor.
  • 0.5 teaspoon dry yeast Keeps it simple.
  • 1.5 cups warm water Should be cozy bath temperature, not boiling.
  • a dash oil Optional but recommended for greasing.

Method

Preparation
  1. In a large bowl, combine your flour, salt, and yeast. Give it a good stir.
  2. Slowly pour the warm water into the dry mix. Stir until everything comes together.
  3. Cover the bowl with a clean kitchen towel or plastic wrap and let it rest in a warm spot for about 12 to 18 hours.
Shaping the Dough
  1. Once the dough has risen, lightly flour your work surface and turn it out. Fold it over a few times.
  2. Shape your dough into a ball or a loaf.
  3. Dust with flour and place seam side down on a floured towel. Cover and let it rise for another 1 to 2 hours.
  4. Preheat your oven to 450°F (232°C) about 30 minutes before baking.
Baking
  1. Carefully remove the hot pot from the oven and transfer the dough into it.
  2. Cover with a lid and bake for 30 minutes.
  3. Remove the lid and bake for an additional 15 to 20 minutes, or until golden brown.
Cooling
  1. Remove the bread from the pot and let it cool on a wire rack for at least 30 minutes before slicing.

Notes

If your dough feels too sticky, sprinkle in a little extra flour. Variations in appearance are okay; each loaf has its unique charm. Enjoy with butter or alongside soups and salads.
