Preparation
- In a large bowl, combine your flour, salt, and yeast. Give it a good stir.
- Slowly pour the warm water into the dry mix. Stir until everything comes together.
- Cover the bowl with a clean kitchen towel or plastic wrap and let it rest in a warm spot for about 12 to 18 hours.
Shaping the Dough
- Once the dough has risen, lightly flour your work surface and turn it out. Fold it over a few times.
- Shape your dough into a ball or a loaf.
- Dust with flour and place seam side down on a floured towel. Cover and let it rise for another 1 to 2 hours.
- Preheat your oven to 450°F (232°C) about 30 minutes before baking.
Baking
- Carefully remove the hot pot from the oven and transfer the dough into it.
- Cover with a lid and bake for 30 minutes.
- Remove the lid and bake for an additional 15 to 20 minutes, or until golden brown.
Cooling
- Remove the bread from the pot and let it cool on a wire rack for at least 30 minutes before slicing.
Notes
If your dough feels too sticky, sprinkle in a little extra flour. Variations in appearance are okay; each loaf has its unique charm. Enjoy with butter or alongside soups and salads.
