Method
Preparation
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large mixing bowl, toss the sliced apples with granulated sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and lemon juice. Let this sit while you prepare the crumble topping.
- In another bowl, combine the flour, rolled oats, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt. Drizzle in the melted butter and mix until you have a crumbly mixture.
- Transfer the apple mixture to a greased 9x13 inch baking dish, spreading it evenly. Sprinkle the crumble topping over the apples.
Baking
- Bake for 40-45 minutes, or until the apples are bubbly and the topping is golden brown.
- Let it cool for a few minutes before serving warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
Notes
Feel free to mix and match different apple varieties for added flavor. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. Reheat in the oven for that freshly-baked feel. Try adding chopped nuts, dried fruit, or a dash of bourbon to the apple mix for a fun twist.
