  • 1 pound gnocchi (store-bought or homemade)
  • 1 pound Italian sausage (mild or spicy) Adjust based on your spice preference.
  • 2 cups marinara sauce Homemade or your favorite jarred version.
  • 1 cup ricotta cheese Can be substituted with cottage cheese.
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese Use generously on top.
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese For that extra cheesy flavor.
  • Salt and pepper, to taste For seasoning the sausage.
  • Fresh basil, for garnish Optional but recommended.

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, crumble and cook the Italian sausage until browned, about 4-5 minutes. Season with salt and pepper.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine the cooked sausage, gnocchi, marinara sauce, and ricotta cheese. Mix well.
  4. Transfer the mixture to a greased baking dish. Top with shredded mozzarella and grated Parmesan.
  5. Bake in the oven for 25-30 minutes, until the top is bubbly and golden brown.
  6. If desired, broil for an additional 2-3 minutes for extra crispiness, keeping a close eye on it.
  7. Let it cool for a few minutes, garnish with fresh basil, and serve.

Notes

Feel free to experiment with cheese substitutions and spiciness. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container for up to 3 days, reheating in the oven.
