Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan or line it with parchment paper.
- Mash the ripe bananas in a large mixing bowl using a fork until smooth.
- Mix in the melted butter, applesauce, beaten egg, and vanilla extract until combined.
- Sprinkle the baking soda and salt over the mixture, gradually adding the flour. Mix until just combined.
- Optionally, gently stir in walnuts or chocolate chips.
Baking
- Pour the batter into your prepared loaf pan, smoothing out the top.
- Bake for 60-65 minutes. Check for doneness by inserting a toothpick; if it comes out clean, it’s done.
- Allow the bread to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Slice and enjoy your delicious Banana Applesauce Bread!
Notes
Banana Ripeness Matters: The browner your bananas, the sweeter your bread will be. Don’t skip the applesauce as it keeps the bread ultra-moist. Every oven is different; if your bread is browning too quickly, cover it with foil during the last 15 minutes of baking.
