  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 4 medium potatoes, thinly sliced
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder (optional) for added flavor

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef with some salt and pepper.
  3. In a greased 9x13-inch baking dish, layer the sliced potatoes.
  4. Once the beef is browned, add the chopped onion and cook until translucent. Layer this mixture over the potatoes.
  5. In a bowl, combine the milk and cream of mushroom soup. Pour this over the beef and potatoes.
  6. Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese over the top.
  7. Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 45 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.
  8. Let it cool for a few minutes before serving.

Feel free to add vegetables like carrots or peas for added nutrition. This dish reheats well for leftovers.
