  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper

  • 4 pieces hamburger buns Choose between classic, brioche, or whole grain.
  • to taste lettuce leaves, tomato slices, pickles, and onion For toppings.
  • to taste ketchup, mustard, and mayo For saucing.

Method

Preparation
  1. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, salt, and black pepper, mixing gently with your fingers.
  2. Shape the mixture into four equal patties, making a small indent in the center of each one.
Cooking
  1. Heat your grill or cast-iron skillet over medium-high heat.
  2. Add your patties to the hot surface and cook for about 3-4 minutes on each side for medium-rare.
  3. Just before taking the burgers off the heat, place a slice of cheese on each patty and cover with a lid or foil.
Assembly
  1. Toast your buns on the grill or a dry skillet.
  2. Layer lettuce, the cooked patty, and any additional toppings you desire.
Serving
  1. Serve your cheeseburgers with a side of crispy fries, fresh salad, or homemade chips.

Notes

Don’t stress about perfection! If your patties are a tad misshaped or your cheese gets a little drippy, that’s all part of the charm. Consider adding sautéed onions or BBQ sauce for extra flavor.
