Ingredients
  

For the salmon
  • 4 pieces salmon fillets Wild-caught, if possible
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil For cooking
  • 1 lemon lemon wedges For serving
For the spice mixture
  • 2 tablespoons paprika
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon onion powder
  • 1 tablespoon cayenne pepper Adjust based on heat preference
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a small bowl, mix the paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper.
  2. Pat the salmon fillets dry with paper towels and coat both sides generously with the spice mixture.
Cooking
  1. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  2. Place the salmon fillets skin-side down in the skillet and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side until a blackened crust forms and the insides are tender.
Serving
  1. Plate the salmon fillets and squeeze lemon juice over the top. Garnish with fresh herbs if desired.

Notes

Allow the skillet to heat adequately before adding salmon for a perfect sear. If flipping is difficult, let it cook fully on one side before turning.
