  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 0.5 cups vegetable oil
  • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract

For the Frosting
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3.5 cups powdered sugar
  • 0.5 cups unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 0.25 cups milk Adjust for consistency.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350° F (175° C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, combine the eggs, milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract.
  4. Gradually add the wet mixture to the dry ingredients and mix until just combined.
  5. Carefully stir in the boiling water.
Baking and Cooling
  1. Pour the batter into two greased 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  3. Let the cakes cool in their pans for about 10 minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.
Frosting and Assembly
  1. While the cakes cool, beat the softened butter until creamy.
  2. Gradually add the powdered sugar and cocoa powder, mixing well.
  3. Mix in the vanilla and adjust milk for desired consistency.
