Method
Activate the Yeast
- In a small bowl, mix the warm milk, yeast, and sugar. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until it gets frothy.
Mix the Dough
- In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Make a well in the center and pour in the melted butter, egg, and activated yeast mixture. Stir until it starts to form a dough.
Knead it!
- Flour your countertop and transfer the dough. Knead for about 5 minutes until it’s smooth and elastic.
Let it Rise
- Place the kneaded dough into a greased bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm area for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
Prepare the Filling
- While the dough is rising, mix the garlic, parsley, and mozzarella in a bowl.
Shape the Rolls
- Punch down the dough and roll it out into a rectangle (about ¼ inch thick). Cut it into squares, place a spoonful of the cheese-garlic mixture in the center, and fold the dough over, pinching the edges to seal.
Second Rise
- Arrange the rolls in a greased baking dish, cover, and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
Bake
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Brush the tops of the rolls with melted butter and bake for about 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
Enjoy!
- Once they’re out of the oven, brush a little more butter on top. Serve warm and watch them disappear!
Notes
Use fresh ingredients for the best flavor. You can make these rolls ahead of time and store them in the fridge before baking.
