Ingredients

For the dough
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup warm milk
  • 1 packet active dry yeast (2¼ tsp)
  • ¼ cup sugar
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 large egg
For the filling
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced Use fresh garlic for the best flavor.
  • ½ cup fresh parsley, chopped
  • to taste more melted butter for brushing

Method

Activate the Yeast
  1. In a small bowl, mix the warm milk, yeast, and sugar. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until it gets frothy.
Mix the Dough
  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Make a well in the center and pour in the melted butter, egg, and activated yeast mixture. Stir until it starts to form a dough.
Knead it!
  1. Flour your countertop and transfer the dough. Knead for about 5 minutes until it’s smooth and elastic.
Let it Rise
  1. Place the kneaded dough into a greased bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm area for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
Prepare the Filling
  1. While the dough is rising, mix the garlic, parsley, and mozzarella in a bowl.
Shape the Rolls
  1. Punch down the dough and roll it out into a rectangle (about ¼ inch thick). Cut it into squares, place a spoonful of the cheese-garlic mixture in the center, and fold the dough over, pinching the edges to seal.
Second Rise
  1. Arrange the rolls in a greased baking dish, cover, and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
Bake
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Brush the tops of the rolls with melted butter and bake for about 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
Enjoy!
  1. Once they’re out of the oven, brush a little more butter on top. Serve warm and watch them disappear!
