  • 2 cups sushi rice It's rice that has been prepared for sushi.
  • 2 cups water For cooking the rice.
  • 4 tablespoons rice vinegar For flavoring the sushi rice.
  • 2 tablespoons sugar To sweeten the rice.
  • 1 teaspoon salt To season the rice.
Toppings and Add-ins
  • 1 cup imitation crab meat Can use real crab for a splurge.
  • 1 medium ripe avocado Diced.
  • 1 medium cucumber Julienned for crunch.
  • carrots, shredded For added veggies.
  • soy sauce For drizzling, optional wasabi.
  • sesame seeds For garnish.

Method
 

Prepare the Sushi Rice
  1. Rinse the sushi rice under cold water in a fine mesh strainer until the water runs clear.
  2. Combine the rinsed rice and water in a pot, bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for about 20 minutes.
  3. In a small saucepan, mix rice vinegar, sugar, and salt over low heat until dissolved.
  4. Once the rice is done, transfer it to a large bowl and pour the vinegar mixture over. Gently fold to combine and let it cool.
Assemble Your Bowl
  1. Scoop a generous amount of sushi rice into your bowl.
  2. Top with imitation crab, avocado, cucumber, and shredded carrots.
  3. Drizzle with soy sauce and sprinkle sesame seeds on top.

Notes
