- Start by peeling and chopping your apples. Aim for a chunky applesauce consistency.
Cooking
- In a large pot, mix the chopped apples, brown sugar, granulated sugar, water, lemon juice, and cinnamon. Stir well.
- Bring the mixture to a gentle boil over medium heat, then lower the heat and let it simmer for about 30-40 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Stir in the caramel sauce once the apples have softened and the mixture resembles a jam. Simmer for another 5-10 minutes.
- Taste the jam and adjust sweetness if desired by adding more brown sugar or caramel.
- Carefully scoop the hot jam into clean jars, let them cool to room temperature, seal, and refrigerate.
Notes
This jam is best enjoyed fresh but can be stored in an airtight container for up to 3 weeks. Great for pancakes or as a glaze on roasted pork.
