Salad Ingredients
  • 2 pieces ripe pears, sliced Choose sweet pears for best results.
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter Unsalted butter is recommended.
  • 1 teaspoon brown sugar Adds sweetness to the pears.
  • 4 cups mixed greens Baby kale, arugula or any preferred greens.
  • ½ cup crumbled blue cheese Crown jewel of this salad.
  • ¼ cup walnuts, toasted For added crunch.
  • to taste Balsamic vinaigrette dressing Use store-bought or homemade.

Method
 

Cooking the Pears
  1. In a skillet over medium heat, melt the butter.
  2. Add the sliced pears and sprinkle them with brown sugar.
  3. Sauté for about 5 minutes, or until the pears are tender and golden brown.
Assembling the Salad
  1. In a large bowl, toss the mixed greens.
  2. Crumble the blue cheese over the greens.
  3. Once the pears are caramelized, place them on top of the greens and cheese.
  4. Sprinkle the toasted walnuts on top.
  5. Drizzle the balsamic vinaigrette over the salad, then toss delicately.

Notes

You can substitute blue cheese with goat cheese for a milder flavor. Store ingredients separately for freshness when meal prepping.
