Ingredients

Puff Pastry and Filling Ingredients
  • 1 sheet sheet of puff pastry (thawed)
  • 1 cup artichoke hearts (canned or frozen, drained and chopped)
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup cream cheese (softened)
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley (chopped)
  • 1 tablespoon fresh basil (chopped)
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 egg beaten for egg wash

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. On a lightly floured surface, roll out your puff pastry until slightly thinner.
  3. In a bowl, mix together the artichoke hearts, mozzarella cheese, cream cheese, chopped parsley, basil, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper until well combined.
  4. Cut the puff pastry into squares or rectangles (around 4x4 inches) and spoon a generous amount of the artichoke mixture into the center of each square.
  5. Fold the pastry over the filling to create a pocket and seal the edges with a fork.
  6. Brush the tops of the pastries with the beaten egg.
Baking
  1. Bake in the preheated oven for about 20-25 minutes, or until they are puffed and golden brown.
  2. Allow cooling for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

Substitute artichokes with spinach or roasted red peppers for a variation. Add extra cheese for a cheesier effect and a pinch of crushed red pepper for heat.
