Preparation
- In a large bowl, mix the flour, instant yeast, sugar, and salt together.
- Gradually mix in the warm milk and melted butter. Knead the dough until smooth and elastic, about 5-7 minutes.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl and cover it with a kitchen towel. Let it rise for about an hour or until doubled in size.
Shaping
- Once risen, punch down the dough and roll it out into a rectangle, about 1/2 inch thick.
- Sprinkle the mozzarella and cheddar evenly across one side of the dough. Fold the other half over, sealing it tightly.
- Cut the dough into small squares (about 2 inches) and stack them vertically on a parchment-lined baking sheet, shaping them into a Christmas tree.
Baking
- Brush the beaten egg over the tops and sprinkle with fresh herbs.
- Preheat your oven to 375°F. Bake for about 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.
Serving
- Once out of the oven, let it cool for a few minutes. Serve immediately and enjoy the cheesy goodness.
