Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Add the eggs, milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract into your dry ingredients. Mix until combined.
- Carefully stir in the boiling water.
- Pour the batter into a greased and floured cake pan.
Baking
- Bake for approximately 30 to 35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
Cherry Topping
- If using jarred cherries, drain them and can optionally toss them with a bit of sugar. For fresh cherries, toss them with sugar to enhance tariness.
Serving
- Once your cake is cool, top it generously with the cherries and serve with a dollop of whipped cream.
Notes
You can mix in a handful of chocolate chips into the batter for extra chocolatey goodness. Feel free to substitute cherries with raspberries or strawberries based on availability.
