Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9x13 inch baking pan.
Combine Dry Ingredients
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
Creaming Time
- In another bowl, beat the softened butter and sugar together until fluffy, about 4-5 minutes.
Add the Eggs & Vanilla
- Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Then add the vanilla extract.
Mix in Buttermilk
- Alternately add the dry ingredients and buttermilk to the butter mixture, starting and finishing with the dry mix.
Choco-Goodness
- Gently fold in the chocolate chips.
Bake Away
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth out the top. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
Cool and Decorate
- Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely. Dust with powdered sugar before serving if desired.
Notes
For moistness, serve with a drizzle of chocolate ganache. This cake freezes well—wrap slices in plastic wrap for later.
