Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the sugar, mayonnaise, and vanilla extract.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add this mixture to the wet ingredients, stirring gently until well combined.
Baking
  1. Pour the batter into a greased 9-inch round cake pan.
  2. Bake for approximately 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  3. Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.
