Preparation
- Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Whisk until evenly mixed.
- Add Wet Ingredients: Add eggs, milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract. Mix until smooth.
- Add Boiling Water: Carefully stir in boiling water and do not be alarmed at the runny batter.
- Bake the Cake: Pour the batter into two greased 9-inch round cake pans. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Allow to cool completely.
Frosting and Decorating
- Make the Peanut Butter Frosting: Blend peanut butter and softened butter in a medium bowl. Gradually add powdered sugar and heavy cream, beating until creamy. Stir in vanilla extract.
- Layer It Up: Once cakes are cool, place one layer on a serving stand. Spread frosting on top, place second layer on top, and frost entire cake.
- Decorate the Galaxy: In separate bowls, put melted dark chocolate and white chocolate, adding food coloring to each. Drizzle over cake to create a galaxy effect. Top with mini chocolate peanut butter cups and sprinkle with edible glitter.
Notes
Don't rush cooling your cake; it affects the frosting. Get creative and involve kids in decorating. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
