Ingredients

Dry Ingredients
  • 1.5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 0.25 teaspoon salt
Wet Ingredients
  • 0.5 cups unsalted butter, softened
  • 0.75 cups sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Add-Ins
  • 1 cup apples, peeled and chopped (about 2 medium apples)
  • 0.5 cups walnuts, chopped optional, but highly recommended for that extra crunch

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease your favorite loaf pan or line it with parchment paper for easy removal later on.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, beat the butter and sugar until fluffy. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well between each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
Mixing
  1. Slowly add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture. Stir until just combined, then fold in the chopped apples and walnuts (if using).
Baking
  1. Pour the batter into your prepared loaf pan. Bake for about 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  2. Let the loaf cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

You can customize the apple varieties for different flavors. Mix in additional spices for a unique touch. Store leftovers wrapped tightly at room temperature for a couple of days or in the fridge for a week.
