Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
- In a skillet, sauté the sliced apples with sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg over medium heat for about 5 minutes until softened.
- Open the cans of cinnamon rolls and cut each roll into quarters.
- Layer half of the cut-up cinnamon rolls at the bottom of the greased dish, then half of the sautéed apples.
- Mix softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla until smooth, then spread half of this mixture over the apples.
- Repeat the layering with the remaining cinnamon rolls, apples, and cream cheese mixture.
- Sprinkle remaining cinnamon roll pieces on top and bake for 25-30 minutes until golden and bubbly.
- Let cool for a few minutes before drizzling the icing from the cinnamon roll cans over the top.
Notes
For a twist, use any apple variety you have on hand. You can add cardamom or brown sugar to spice up the cinnamon rolls. Chill time enhances flavor and makes slicing easier.
