Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 pound favorite sausages (pork or chicken) Choose based on preference.
  • 2 pounds russet potatoes, peeled and chopped For a fluffy mash.
  • 1 cup frozen peas Fresh peas can be used for a fancier option.
  • 1/4 cup milk (or buttermilk) For creaminess.
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter Add richness to the mash.
  • Salt and pepper to taste To season the dish.
  • Optional: A splash of Worcestershire sauce For added flavor.

Method

Preparation
  1. Place the chopped potatoes in a large pot. Fill it with cold water, add a pinch of salt, and bring it to a gentle boil.
  2. Cook the potatoes until tender, about 15-20 minutes. Once cooked, drain the water and mash the potatoes with milk, butter, salt, and pepper until smooth and creamy.
Cooking
  1. In a separate skillet, cook the sausages over medium heat. Turn them occasionally until golden brown and cooked through, about 15-20 minutes.
  2. In the last five minutes of cooking the sausages, toss in the frozen peas to warm them up and add color.
Serving
  1. Plate the mashed potatoes, layer the cooked sausages on top, and sprinkle peas around like confetti.

Notes

Consider adding garlic, cheese, or a dollop of sour cream to the mash for extra flavor. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
