Ingredients

Bread and filling ingredients
  • 1 loaf French bread For the base of the stuffed bread
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened Main ingredient for the filling
  • 1 cup cooked shrimp, chopped You can substitute with different seafood if desired
  • 1 cup lump crab meat Adds richness to the filling
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder For flavoring
  • 1 teaspoon Old Bay seasoning Classic seasoning that complements seafood
  • ¼ cup mayonnaise Helps bind the filling
  • ¼ cup green onions, chopped Adds freshness
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese For a gooey texture
  • 3 tablespoons butter, melted For brushing on the bread
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced Adds extra garlic flavor to the butter
  • 1 tablespoon Fresh parsley, for garnish Optional but adds a nice touch

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, chopped shrimp, lump crab meat, garlic powder, Old Bay seasoning, mayonnaise, green onions, and shredded mozzarella cheese. Mix well until completely combined.
  3. Slice the French bread horizontally in half and scoop out some of the soft bread from the inside to create room for the filling.
Cooking
  1. Spread the shrimp and crab mixture generously into the hollowed-out bread halves.
  2. Mix the melted butter with the minced garlic and brush this mixture over the top of the stuffed bread.
  3. Wrap the stuffed bread halves in foil and bake for 15 minutes. Unwrap and then bake for an additional 5-10 minutes until golden.
  4. Let cool for a few minutes, then cut into pieces and garnish with fresh parsley if desired.

Notes

Make the filling in advance and refrigerate before stuffing the bread. For a gluten-free option, use gluten-free bread. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container for up to 3 days, but may lose some crispiness.
