Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup dried cranberries, roughly chopped
  • 1 large zest of orange This adds a zesty flavor.
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ teaspoon almond extract Optional, but recommended for enhanced flavor.

Method

Baking Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine the softened butter and granulated sugar. Beat until light and fluffy.
  3. Stir in the vanilla and almond extracts.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together the flour and salt. Gradually add this mixture to the butter-sugar combination, mixing until just combined.
  5. Fold in the chopped cranberries and orange zest.
  6. Shape the dough into balls (about 1 tablespoon each) and place them on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Slightly flatten each ball with a fork.
  7. Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the cookies are just lightly golden.
  8. Allow them to cool on a wire rack before serving.

Notes

Chill the dough for about 30 minutes for better flavor and texture. Feel free to experiment with different mix-ins like dark or white chocolate. A sprinkle of powdered sugar enhances presentation.
