Ingredients
Method
Mix the Dough
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, yeast, and salt.
- Pour in the warm milk and melted butter. Add the egg. Mix until a soft dough forms.
Knead
- Lightly flour your work surface and turn out the dough. Knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- If it’s feeling sticky, sprinkle in a little more flour as needed.
Let it Rise
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm, draft-free environment for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- For a quicker rise, preheat your oven to the lowest setting, turn it off, and let the dough rise there.
Prepare the Cream Cheese Filling
- While the dough is rising, mix together the softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract in a separate bowl until smooth and creamy.
Roll it Out
- Once the dough has risen, punch it down and turn it onto a floured surface.
- Roll it out into a rectangle about 1/4 inch thick.
Spread the Filling
- Carefully spread the cream cheese mixture over the rolled-out dough.
- Sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar topping evenly over the cream cheese.
Shape the Rolls
- From the long side, roll the dough tightly into a log.
- Cut the log into 12 equal slices.
Bake
- Place the rolls in a greased baking dish.
- Brush the tops with melted butter.
- Cover and let them rise for another 30 minutes while you preheat your oven to 375°F.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
Serve and Enjoy
- Remove from the oven, let them cool slightly, and then devour.
- These rolls are best enjoyed fresh out of the oven, so gather your loved ones around and enjoy this sweet masterpiece!
