Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Peel the onions and slice them in half. Lay the halves cut-side down on a baking sheet.
Baking
- Bake the onions for about 30-35 minutes until they’re tender.
- In a medium bowl, combine the heavy cream, 3/4 cup of grated Asiago cheese, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and thyme. Stir until well mixed.
- Once the onions are soft, carefully flip them over. Spoon the creamy mixture generously over each onion half. Top with the remaining Asiago cheese.
- Return the onions to the oven and bake for another 20-25 minutes or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
Finishing Touches
- Once done, sprinkle with fresh parsley before serving.
Notes
You can prepare the cheesy mixture a day ahead. Feel free to swap Asiago for another melty cheese like Gruyere or fontina if desired.
