  • 1.5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar

  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 0.5 cup heavy cream
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 0.5 teaspoon vanilla extract

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan or use parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the eggs one at a time, followed by milk and vanilla extract. Mix until combined.
Making the Cake Batter
  1. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and a pinch of salt.
  2. Gently fold the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until just combined.
Baking the Cake
  1. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and bake for about 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
Making the Caramel Sauce
  1. Melt the granulated sugar in a saucepan over medium heat, stirring constantly until it turns amber.
  2. Carefully stir in the heavy cream and butter, then remove from heat and add the vanilla extract and sea salt.
  3. Let the caramel cool slightly until it thickens.
Assembling the Cake
  1. Once the cake is cooled, cut it in half horizontally.
  2. Drizzle caramel sauce between the layers and on the top of the cake.
