  • 4 slices slices of ham (or turkey, if you prefer)
  • 4 slices slices of cheese (Swiss or Gruyère) Adds melty goodness
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 cup of milk
  • 2 tablespoons of sugar For sweetness
  • ¼ teaspoon of ground cinnamon Add more if desired
  • Butter for frying
  • Powdered sugar for dusting For presentation

Method

Preparation
  1. In a bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, sugar, and cinnamon until blended and frothy.
  2. Take two slices of bread and layer them with a slice of cheese, ham, and another slice of cheese on top. Cap with another slice of bread to form a sandwich.
Cooking
  1. Dip each side of the sandwiches into the egg mixture, soaking briefly.
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, melt a tablespoon of butter. Add the sandwiches and cook until golden brown on each side.
  3. Transfer cooked sandwiches to a plate and dust with powdered sugar.
Serving
  1. Slice and serve warm, optionally with raspberry jam or maple syrup.

Notes

Experiment with different fillings, add more butter for crispiness, or spice up the egg mixture with hot sauce for extra flavor. Perfect for weekend brunches or quick dinners!
