Ingredients

For the croissants
  • 1 package frozen, buttery croissants (8 count, thawed)
  • 1 cup cooked shrimp, chopped You can use leftover shrimp.
  • 4 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1 tablespoon fresh dill Or 1 teaspoon dried dill.
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • to taste salt and pepper
  • 1 egg beaten For egg wash.

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (or 200°C).
  2. In a medium bowl, combine the chopped shrimp, softened cream cheese, dill, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Mix until it's a creamy consistency.
  3. Unroll your thawed croissants on a clean surface. They should already be split into triangles. If they’re not, gently separate them.
  4. Spoon some of the shrimp mixture onto the wider end of each triangle. Roll them up from the wide end to the tip, tucking in the sides as you go.
  5. Place the rolled croissants on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Brush them generously with the beaten egg.
  6. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until they are beautifully golden and flaky.
  7. Once you’ve spotted that golden goodness, take them out and let them cool slightly before serving.

Notes

Shrimp substitutions can include crab meat or veggies. Leftovers can be frozen by wrapping in plastic and foil. For a vegan egg wash, use almond milk and maple syrup.
