Ingredients

For the Dough
  • 1 cup water Used to create the dough.
  • 1/2 cup butter Stick of butter, melted.
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour Main ingredient for the dough.
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt Enhances flavor.
  • 4 large eggs Incorporate one at a time.
For Coating and Frying
  • 1 cup powdered sugar For dusting the crullers.
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract Optional, for enhanced flavor.
  • Oil for frying Ensure the oil is hot enough.

Method

Preparation
  1. In a medium saucepan, heat the water and butter until the butter melts and the mixture comes to a boil.
  2. Quickly stir in the flour and salt until it forms a thick dough that pulls away from the sides of the pan.
  3. Transfer the dough to a mixing bowl, and let it cool for a minute. Then, beat in the eggs one at a time until smooth and glossy.
  4. Prepare a piping bag fitted with a large star tip. Pipe the dough into ring shapes on parchment paper or a baking sheet.
Cooking
  1. In a deep frying pan, heat the oil to 350°F (175°C). Carefully place the crullers into the hot oil, a few at a time.
  2. Fry until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes on each side, then transfer to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
Serving
  1. Let the crullers cool, then dust with powdered sugar. Serve fresh and warm.

Notes

For best results, ensure your oil is hot enough to prevent greasy crullers. Feel free to experiment with flavor variations by adding vanilla or citrus zest.
