Ingredients
  

Meatloaf Mixture
  • 1.5 pounds 1 ½ pounds ground beef (preferably lean)
  • 1 cup 1 cup French onion soup (store-bought or homemade)
  • 1 medium 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 1 cup 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 large 1 large egg
  • 1 tablespoon 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 0.5 teaspoon ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon ½ teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon ½ teaspoon black pepper
Topping
  • 1 cup 1 cup shredded cheese (Swiss or Gruyere)
  • Additional French onion soup for topping (optional, but highly recommended)

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, French onion soup, chopped onion, breadcrumbs, egg, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix until everything is well combined.
  3. Shape the mixture into a loaf and place it in a greased baking dish.
  4. Top your meatloaf with a little additional French onion soup, then sprinkle the shredded cheese generously across the top.
Cooking
  1. Bake in your preheated oven for 1 hour, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (70°C).
  2. Once done, let the meatloaf rest for about ten minutes before slicing.
  3. Slice, serve, and enjoy!
