Method
Preparation
- Grab a bowl for mixing, a plate for holding the coated chips, and a frying pan for the magic. This keeps everything organized.
- In a mixing bowl, combine shredded mozzarella and cheddar cheese. Optionally, add a dash of hot sauce for spice.
Stuffing the Chips
- Take a Dorito chip, gently break it in half, and stuff a generous spoonful of cheese in between the two pieces.
Coating the Chips
- Dip each stuffed chip into the buttermilk, followed by the flour, and then coat it with breadcrumbs.
Frying
- Heat about 2 inches of oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Fry the stuffed chips in batches until golden brown and crispy, about 3-4 minutes per side.
- Avoid over-crowding the pan to ensure each chip gets that perfect crunch!
Serving
- Place your golden delights on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil. Serve hot with your favorite dips on the side.
Notes
Keep leftover filling to use as a topping for nachos. Experiment with different types of cheese, such as pepper jack for a nice kick. You can prep the stuffed chips in advance and fry them fresh right before serving.
