- Start by slicing your croissants in half horizontally or into triangles.
- In a shallow dish, mix together the granulated sugar and cinnamon.
- In a large, heavy skillet or a deep fryer, heat the oil over medium heat until it’s hot (about 350°F).
Cooking
- Carefully place a few croissant pieces in the hot oil, frying them for about 1-2 minutes per side until golden brown.
- Once fried, remove the beignets from the oil and drain them on paper towels.
- Coat them immediately with your cinnamon sugar mixture.
- Give them a generous dusting of powdered sugar.
- Serve immediately and enjoy warm!
Notes
Use day-old croissants for a flakier texture. Keep an eye on the oil temperature; too hot or too cool can affect your beignets. You can add nutmeg or use brown sugar for variation.
