Ingredients
  

For the Sloppy Joes
  • 1 pound ground beef (or turkey) Use ground turkey for a healthier option.
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1/2 cup bell pepper, diced Red or green, whichever you have.
  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
For the Garlic Bread
  • 4 hoagie rolls or your favorite sturdy sandwich buns
  • 1/4 cup butter, softened
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon parsley (dried or fresh)

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add the ground beef, onion, and bell pepper, breaking the meat apart as it cooks. Sauté until the beef is browned and the veggies are tender, about 5-7 minutes.
Saucing
  1. Drain any excess fat from the skillet. Stir in the ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, and garlic powder. Season with salt and pepper. Simmer for about 10 minutes.
Garlic Bread Preparation
  1. In a small bowl, combine the softened butter, minced garlic, and parsley. Spread this mixture generously on the hoagie rolls.
Baking and Assembling
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Place the buttered rolls on a baking sheet and bake for about 5-7 minutes until golden and toasty.
  2. Remove the rolls from the oven, spoon the sloppy joe mixture onto each roll, and serve immediately.

Notes

Customize the meat or try a meatless version with lentils. For added spice, mix in hot sauce or jalapeños. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
