Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 2 pounds sirloin or flank steak Choose your preferred cut.
  • 4 tablespoons butter Unsalted is preferred.
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce Use low sodium if desired.
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon fresh parsley, chopped For garnish.
  • to taste Salt and pepper For seasoning.

Method

Preparation
  1. Pat the steak dry with paper towels and season both sides generously with salt and pepper.
Cooking
  1. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat. Once shimmering, place the steak in the pan.
  2. Cook for 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare, adjusting based on preference.
Making the Garlic Butter Sauce
  1. In a small saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add in the minced garlic and soy sauce, stirring constantly until the garlic is fragrant (about 1-2 minutes).
Finishing Touches
  1. Once the steak is cooked, lower the heat to medium and pour the garlic butter over the steak in the skillet. Let it sit for a minute or two.
  2. Remove the steak from the skillet and let it rest for about 5 minutes before slicing.
  3. Slice against the grain and drizzle with the leftover garlic butter. Garnish with fresh parsley.

Notes

If the sauce looks a bit rustic, that’s just the garlic showing character! Use a meat thermometer for precision cooking: 130°F for medium-rare, 145°F for medium. Leftovers can be used in a steak salad.
