Ingredients
  

Main Ingredients
  • 1 large loaf large round loaf of Italian bread
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 0.5 pound sliced salami
  • 0.5 pound sliced mortadella
  • 0.5 pound sliced ham
  • 0.5 pound sliced provolone cheese
  • 1 cup marinated olive salad store-bought or homemade
  • fresh arugula or spinach optional, for garnish

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Slice the round loaf of Italian bread in half horizontally, being careful not to cut all the way through.
Drizzle & Layer
  1. Brush the inside of each half of the bread with olive oil. Layer on the salami, mortadella, and ham.
Cheese Layer
  1. Add the provolone cheese generously over the meats.
Olive Salad Layer
  1. Spread the marinated olive salad evenly over the cheese and meats.
Assemble
  1. Place the top half of the bread back on and press down gently.
Wrap & Chill
  1. Wrap the sandwich tightly in plastic wrap or butcher paper.
  2. Refrigerate for at least an hour, preferably overnight.
Serve
  1. Unwrap and slice the sandwich into wedges or quarters, garnishing with arugula or spinach if desired.

Notes

For those who dislike olives, a roasted red pepper spread can be used as a substitute. This sandwich can be made the night before for best flavor.
