Preparation
- Slice the round loaf of Italian bread in half horizontally, being careful not to cut all the way through.
Drizzle & Layer
- Brush the inside of each half of the bread with olive oil. Layer on the salami, mortadella, and ham.
Cheese Layer
- Add the provolone cheese generously over the meats.
Olive Salad Layer
- Spread the marinated olive salad evenly over the cheese and meats.
Assemble
- Place the top half of the bread back on and press down gently.
Wrap & Chill
- Wrap the sandwich tightly in plastic wrap or butcher paper.
- Refrigerate for at least an hour, preferably overnight.
Serve
- Unwrap and slice the sandwich into wedges or quarters, garnishing with arugula or spinach if desired.
Notes
For those who dislike olives, a roasted red pepper spread can be used as a substitute. This sandwich can be made the night before for best flavor.
