Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 cup unsalted butter (melted)
  • 2 cups brown sugar
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1.5 cups cocoa powder
  • 3 teaspoons ground ginger
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground cloves optional for an extra spice kick
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup chopped nuts or chocolate chips feel free to customize!

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the melted butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until smooth. Add eggs and vanilla extract, mixing until blended.
  3. Gently fold in the flour, cocoa powder, ground ginger, cinnamon, cloves, and salt. Mix until just combined.
  4. Stir in nuts or chocolate chips.
  5. Pour the batter into a greased or lined baking pan and smooth it out.
Baking
  1. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  2. Let them cool slightly before cutting into squares.

Notes

For fudgier brownies, err on the side of under-baking. For cake-like brownies, bake a few extra minutes. If using nuts, chop them smaller for even distribution.
